The PureSpa Range
Intex are leaders in producing high quality inflatable hot tubs. They focus on quality and value and have been in the industry for over 40 years. It’s not surprising then that their PureSpa range is consistently found at the top of the ‘Best Sellers’ lists and receives high review scores from customers.
There are two models to choose from, the Intex 77in PureSpa which seats 4 people and the slightly larger Intex PureSpa 85in which seats 6 people. In terms of features both models are identical so if you’re wondering which model to buy you really only need to answer one question – do I need a hot tub which seats a maximum of 4 people or 6?
There are other points you should be aware of though. For example, if you purchase the larger 85″ PureSpa it’ll take longer to heat the water and will cost a little extra to run – you do get an extra 20 bubble jets though!

Which PureSpa is Right for You?
When choosing a hot tub to buy it’s best to select one which is designed for the number of people who will be regularly using it. The PureSpa range offers two size options, the 77in (4 person) and 85in (6 person). In our experience 4 children could happily fit in the 77in and 6 within the 85in. However, you may struggle to fit the same number of adults in each – it’d be a squeeze!
We’d advise the 77in model can accommodate two to three adults and the larger 85in up to five without feeling cramped.
Installing and Setting Up
When your PureSpa arrives it’ll need setting up. We’re glad to say this isn’t difficult and doesn’t take too much time once you’re familiar with the process. You will need to ensure you have a space large enough to safely position the hot tub and that it has a flat and smooth surface which is capable of supporting the weight (the 6 person PureSpa can weigh up to 3500lbs).
Inflating the tub only takes around 10 minutes, the PureSpa comes with an inflation hose which you attach to the air pump to inflate the spa and the cover. You don’t need to worry about over inflating the spa either as it has an “air pressure release” function which automatically releases excess air. Deflation is even easier, you simply release the air by opening a valve.
Overall the PureSpa is very user friendly and isn’t difficult to set up.
The PureSpa allows you to set the water temperature between 68°F and 104°F, which is standard for most hot tubs. The first thing to know is heating the water to its maximum temperature of 104°F can take a long time. How long does it take? Well, depending on the outside air temperature it can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. If you need to use your hot tub sooner you can fill the PureSpa with warm water from your household supply which will shorten the initial heat-up time. However, make sure the water never exceeds 104°F as the heater will turn off.
Ultimately though, if you plan ahead the initial heat-up time isn’t a problem and once at the desired temperature the PureSpa is able to efficiently maintain the temperature of the water. Our advice is to not let the water temperature drop too much if you plan on using the PureSpa again. For example, if you plan to use the spa for several weeks you can use one of our easy ways to reduce your hot tub running costs which is to use the hot tub timer to reduce the heat-up time (and cost of running the spa) by lowering the temperature to 85°F when not in use and raising it to 100°F before you get in. Instead of taking days to warm it’ll take about 8 hours – so raise the temperature in the morning and it’ll be ready by the time you’re home from work!
It’s very important you regularly check and keep the spa water sanitized. Not only does this ensure the water is healthy to bathe in but it’ll maximize the life and appearance of the hot tub. Luckily, this task is made easy as Intex supplies a floating chemical dispenser which you place in the PureSpa. You’ll need to replace the chemicals when necessary but it’s extremely easy to do.
The PureSpa is fitted with filters which are easy to clean and easily replaceable. You should check the filter once a week and clean it under running water. If the filter looks discolored and heavily soiled they should be replaced.
Lastly, Intex provides water quality test strips to help you check the “Free Chlorine”, “pH”, “Total Alkalinity” and “Calcium Hardness” levels of your water. You can purchase chemicals from Amazon to correct any issues with your water or just empty the PureSpa and refill it.
The Intex PureSpa comes with all the standard features you’d expect to find in an inflatable hot tub, as well as a few great extras, such as the built-in hard water softener (which we’ll go in to more details about below). However, the stand out aspect you’ll notice with the PureSpa range is the superior build quality and best-in-class components, such as the digital control panel which is a joy to use and simply better than those offered by competing brands.
Intex is large, reputable supplier of many inflatable products such as airbeds, pools, spas, boats and more. They have over 40 years of experience and their PureSpa range is tried and tested – often found at the top of ‘highest rated’ and ‘best selling’ lists. As a result the PureSpa range has more accessories than most other inflatable hot tub suppliers.
